The ‘Freemium’ Business Model has become virtually synonymous with Web 2.0 applications and services, fuelled by the growth in online advertising and e-commerce. The key driver behind the rapid adoption of this model has been the huge investment by Venture Capitalists, which set aside much of the conventional wisdom about business models.
