Consumers globally have now embraced the digital economy and helped drive the phenomenal growth in e-commerce. There are several ways of defining and segmenting consumers: different socio-demographic descriptions based on earnings, education, social class, life stage and occupation;age-based categories;techno-demographic categories based on the level of comfor with using digital technologies. All these approaches contribute in different ways to our ability to understand and predict the behaviour of consumers.
Disney’s investment and joint-venture partnership with ad-supported streaming video site Hulu, will seriously impact existing players like Google’s YouTube and Apple's iTunes service.
