Security technologies typically cover the following areas: security when connecting to the internet, including protection of confidential information and personal device and network integrity; connecting to Trusted, UnTrusted and Unknown networks and managing consequential risks; establishing and maintaining security measures, including perimeter fencing, and detection of attacks; counter-measures against viruses and other forms of attack.
BAE Systems has made its first significant foray into the homeland security arena with the £531m purchase of Detica, a specialist provider of security technology, which supplies security-related software and IT services to the government and a range of other corporate and government clients.
